Everyone possesses attributes that can make him/her similar to another, the same attributes that can make someone unique. No two people look the same. While there may be characteristics that make them similar, in the end, everyone has, at least, one physical trait that makes one different from another. In addition, no two people will ever share personalities which is what makes human interaction interesting. Everyone is unique. All of these attributes can affect relationships. The novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie, and modern sources explore how mental and physical attributes affect friendship quality. Both authors show how, often, same-race friendships form tighter bonds. In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian best friends Junior and Rowdy are both Spokane Indians who are fighting throughout the novel. They experienced their culture together and stayed side by side through all their rough patches. Their friendship lasted fourteen y ears before they fought; therefore, the bond they share will never be broken. In the middle of the text Junior and Rowdy are not speaking to each other, but Junior â€Å"would always love Rowdy. And [he] would always miss him, too† (Alexie 230).
